Razlogi staršev za (ne)vključitev otrok v vrtec: kvalitativna pilotna študija

V kvalitativni pilotni študiji se osredotočamo na razloge slovenskih staršev za (ne)vključitev otrok v organizirano predšolsko vzgojo in izobraževanje (PVI), pri čemer izhajamo iz premisleka, da so dosedanje raziskave pogosto pomanjkljivo osredotočene predvsem na demografske dejavnike. Namen pilotne kvalitativne raziskave je razumeti starševske presoje o vlogi PVI in identificirati razloge za in proti vključevanju otrok v PVI. Metodološko prispevek temelji na devetih polstrukturiranih intervjujih s starši iz treh slovenskih regij. Rezultati kažejo, da starši kot ključni razlog za vključitev otrok v PVI navajajo potrebo po varstvu blizu doma, nadalje deloma navajajo razvojne naloge PVI (socializacija, predopismenjevanje, obogatitvene dejavnosti) in nazadnje tudi zaupanje v institucije PVI. Med razlogi proti vključitvi pa izpostavljajo prepričanje, da so otroci v prvem starostnem obdobju premladi za vrtec, nezadostno odzivnost vzgojiteljic zaradi prevelikih skupin ter željo, da bi imeli otroci več možnosti za prosto igro in manj strukturiranih dejavnosti. Študija poudarja kompleksnost odločanja staršev, ki izhaja iz individualnih vrednot staršev, družinskih okoliščin in širšega družbenega konteksta ter opozarja na potrebo po nadaljnjih raziskavah o dostopnosti in percepciji staršev, kakšno vlogo ima PVI pri razvoju otroka.
