Abstract

The article presents the results of an empirical study encompassing 487 students – future education professionals – in the following three countries: Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia. This causal, nonexperimental study aimed to assess the country and role of the study program, analyzing five dimensions of process-oriented learning (internal regulation of learning; knowledge as an active construct; group and participatory learning; dynamic perspective on abilities; and tolerance of uncertainty), as well as self-reflection on changes to students’ own learning. The focus was on the examination of concepts, based on which it can be assumed that teachers encourage student activity and their independent learning. We found that the students exhibited a relatively homogenous and highly favorable view of all dimensions of process-oriented learning, while statistically significant differences emerged in the case of some who rated the role of the country and their study program as unimportant.
