Abstract

In this paper, we present the findings of a study in which we used a multisensory space to teach digital skills. As part of the Erasmus+ project Digital Skills for Integration and Active Citizenship (DISC), we developed a tool for self-assessment of digital skills, with which young people who participated in the survey assessed their knowledge before and after the workshops. The findings show that a multisensory space is an effective tool for obtaining digital skills. The young people who participated in the research were motivated to participate and co-create a multisensory space. During the workshops, they gained valuable knowledge and co-created a space that they shared with other workshop participants. The self-assessment tool proved to be an exceptionally statistically reliable tool with high reliability as a whole and in sets. Furthermore, it also turned out that users reported improvements in the areas that we addressed in the workshops. This showed that the young people understood the survey and responded to it honestly, as they did not report better knowledge in areas that had not been covered in the workshops.
