Abstract

In the article, we discuss the role of music in the holistic development of children, presenting the positive effects of music in various areas of child development. We want to contribute to our understanding of how music as a means of promoting the musical and holistic development of preschool children in the Montessori approach has been studied in the literature. In the article, we first focus on the role of music in promoting the holistic development of children while also presenting the many beneficial transfer effects of music. Afterwards, we examine how the holistic development of children is promoted in Montessori pedagogy and define the role of music in Montessori pedagogy in connection with the holistic development of children. We note that music is recognized in the literature as an effective tool for promoting the holistic development of children, and that the pedagogical concept of Montessori attributes to music an essential role in promoting holistic development.
