Development of the Learning Environment through Knowledge Mapping and Knowledge-Mapping Techniques

The purpose of this paper is to determine the role of knowledge mapping in the organisation for the development of the learning environment of employees. The study is based on the review, analysis and synthesis of scientific information from the databases Academic Search Elite, RUL, COBISS.si, Google Scholar and EBSCOhost. The key search terms were: management, knowledge management, knowledge maps, map/knowledge matrix and knowledge management in English and Slovenian, and the period from 2008 to 2020. The restrictive search criteria were: 2008 to 2020 and the full text of articles. 41 articles were included in the detailed processing, of which 9 quantitative and 14 qualitative studies were included in the final analysis. 7 codes were identified: mind map, folder of concepts, folder of possessed knowledge, folder of work processes, folder of competences, explicit knowledge, tacit knowledge. Research has shown that organisations use knowledge-mapping methods for the development of the learning environment in work processes to a lesser extent. These methods would help them to better accumulate all the knowledge, thus increasing the innovation, performance and competitiveness of employees in an increasingly dynamic market.
