Abstract

In modern society, digital skills are no longer just recommended for students, but essential for academic and professional success. They enable students to critically evaluate information, solve problems and communicate in various digital formats, which is crucial for a successful integration into the workplace. Given these requirements, the study focuses on the digital literacy of students in higher education, which is crucial for the effective use of digital technologies and information resources. Using a quantitative approach and a descriptive method with an online survey via the tool 1KA.si, it was found that, on average, students achieve a high level of digital literacy, with significant differences between degree programmes. The research highlights the importance of continuous education, the development of critical thinking and the creation of a supportive environment for the use of digital tools in the educational process that maximises the use of available information and prepares students for future challenges. The need to adapt educational strategies is emphasised.
